Personal Insurance Assistant

Full Time • Melville, NY

Position Overview: The sales assistant provides support to producers to assist in the achievement of the sales goals of the agency.

Critical Job Functions:

  • Learn and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of insurance company websites and guidelines.
  • Serve as the primary intake for all new submissions from producers.
  • Prepare applications and all corresponding paperwork.
  • Review and quote policies. Verify accuracy and facilitate corrections as needed between client and carrier.
  • Bind coverage within company guidelines and follow up to ensure timely receipt of policies.
  • Assist with overall departmental projects as needed.
  • Work as a team with your co-workers, contribute to the team effort by openly sharing insurance knowledge with other employees.
  • Develop cooperative professional relationships with our insurance carriers.
  • Comply with all internal procedure and practices while demonstrating the ability to meet service performance and quality standards.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Must be accurate, detailed and thorough
  • Strong problem-solving skills / Accepts full ownership of issues and follows through to completion
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Articulate, strong communication skills, both oral and written

Educational requirement:

  • College graduate or experience equivalent.

Technology/skills requirement:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • General knowledge of insurance industry, including terminology
